Trees

Thinning of the Scots pine in compartment Com3 continued, with the felled material being turned into a steadily lengthening network of dead hedging.

 

 

 

Several Tulip trees (Liriodendron tulipfera) were planted in different parts of the wood. Only one has survived to grow on to a healthy sapling.

Animals

A young female adder was photographed among the bilberry.

Footpath repar – FP241

The lower part of FP241 (the central public footpath) showed signs of erosion. Walkers were deviating away from the public footpath to avoid exposed roots. In November 2019 new steps were installed.
