Sable Wood is for sale
During the 2024/2025 winter the decision firmed up in my mind that it was time to pass Sable Wood on to a new steward. Over my 13 years of ownership I had the pleasure of seeing it evolve from a rather neglected wood, with important habitats slowly disappearing, to a greener, more biodiverse space with solid evidence of, in particular, a healthy reptile population comprising four out of the six species of reptile found in the UK.
During January and February 2025 I gave advance warning to all those who would be affected by this decision, before the wood formally went up for sale in early April.

While Sable Wood remains in my possession I will continue to manage it for the benefit of wildlife, and the two forest schools will continue to operate.
On 3 April, steps were inserted into FP218, to repair a section where rain erosion had turned the footpath into a gully.
